Shoreline retaining walls deflect waves and eliminate erosion.  These are critical barriers which have to withstand constant abuse and motion.  They play an important role in preventing property loss/erosion and flooding. Bulkheads all serve the same purpose but are designed specifically for the environment which surrounds it.
